Fun weekend... [Feb. 16th, 2003|11:05 pm]

Unfortunately, it was a weekend without Amy. She is having a girl's weekend up in San Francisco with a friend of hers...

But, despite that, I did have a lot of fun this weekend. Friday night I saw Daredevil. It kicked ass. I was very surprised how little time was taken up with Daredevil's origin. technomonkey should be pleased...

On Saturday, the mail arrived, and I got a package of stuff I ordered with my gift certificate from Amazon.com that I got through Memolink (if you sign up for that service through this link, let them know that masked.marvel@gte.net was the email address that referred you...). That had the Back to the Future trilogy on DVD and the Watchmen trade paperback. I've already read Watchmen (I've read it before this, but it's been a while, and of course wanted to re-read it again now that I owned it...), and I'm working my way through the Back to the Future movies and special features. Very nice...

Saturday evening, dragonpookie called and invited me to join him, shingkhor and Hans (he gets no cool userlink, for he has no journal I'm aware of...) while they watched DVDs and made weapons. I didn't do anything in the weapon-making department (these are weapons made of PVC pipe, foam and duct tape, for those unaware of AOKP combat), but I hung out with them until about 3:30am. Got assassinated by a couple of people who looked suspiciously like Seth and Nate. Oh well...

Today, I woke up around 1:00, and realized that I was supposed to go see Daredevil again, this time with technomonkey and a couple of others. But, the show started at 1:20 in Orange, so there was no way I was making it. So, instead, I continued my Back to the Future watching, then went to privi, after which Erik came home with me, and we watched the 300th episode of the Simpsons, as well as the 301st episode and the Married with Children reunion. All in all, quite an enjoyable weekend...

You heard wrong, in my opinion

I wouldn't say that. There isn't anyone in AOKP that I would think of as "goth." I was over at Luhnquil's house the other night, and we watched some old AOKP videos. The biggest change that I saw is that more people have garb that they bought, as opposed to handmade or cobbled together costumes. That could give the impression of more goth people, especially the women. But, really, that's more because of the ageing of the group, as more alumni and non-students are in the group than before, which means more people with disposable income.

Did Mason give any examples of what he meant by "gone goth"? I'd be curious, especially since I just saw Mason not that long ago, and he didn't bring it up when we talked AOKP stuff...

Re: You heard wrong, in my opinion

Yeah, the Magic Chef party is exactly what I was referring to when I said I saw him recently. But, like I said, I didn't hear him talk about "goth" stuff at all when we chatted.

There are a few people in AOKP (myself included) who never attended Whittier College. The college is aware of it, and we're always careful to maintain a majority of students and/or recent alumni.

Census

Well, according to the Companion Browse webpage, we have 33 active members. In truth, I'd say we have more like 25 or so actually active. Depending on the evening, we usually have anywhere from six to 20 people in court...(When there's six, the other 14 tend to be out in the hall plotting...)

Re: Census

Feel free to stop by some Thursday. It's (almost) always good to see or hear from one of the "old farts." This Thursday is first pages' court, and the previous page class is holding an auction for their fundraiser...

http://www.oddhatter.net/aokp/auction/ for more info on that...

Dream Theater

If you liked them, you should definitely go to the music store and get some of their more recent music. The one I recommend the most is Metropolis Part 2, although their recent double album, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is also very good.
