With my commute to work, I've been listening to a lot more radio than normal recently. And thus I've come up with these two lists:

Songs that are currently getting way overplayed and I've gotten sick of:

  • "Hero" by Chad Kroeger
  • "All You Wanted" by Michelle Branch
  • "In the Middle" by Jimmy Eat World

Songs that are currently getting overplayed, but I still enjoy:

  • "One Sure Thing" by John Mayer
  • "Complicated" by Avril Lavegne

I can't remember a day in the past two months that I didn't hear one of those songs on the radio while driving to or from work. It'd really be nice to hear a little more variety on the radio...I know that's a hopeless wish, but I can keep hoping.

One of my favorite album sides of all time is side one of the Police's "Synchronicity" (yes, I'm showing my age, referring to "album sides"). The reason only one side is my favorite is because the other side kicks off with "Every Breath You Take" -- the single most overplayed song of all time. I can't bear to listen to it anymore...I mean, yes, it's a good song...the first thousand times you hear it.

Anyway, I've given up on the radio. Old Jack Benny shows and the Butthole Surfers are all I listen to in the car anymore. :) t
