I have no idea how I did this, but I lost my copy of Atlas Shrugged. I was about 870 pages in (out of 1060 or so), and it just disappeared. I was only reading it at work and in the car, so I don't know where it could have gone to. I mean, it could be in the car, and I can't find it there, but I've looked pretty thoroughly, and it's a significantly sized item...

So, anyone want to tell me what I missed? I'm pretty sure I've got an understanding of the philosophy that Ayn Rand was trying to convey with the book (she has her characters reiterate it quite a few times during the course of the novel), but I really don't want to buy another copy for the last 200 pages of the story, which was fairly interesting in its own right.

Library! Oh yeah...

Since I moved from Ventura, where there actually were two libraries worth visiting, I haven't found a library worth my attention near where I've lived (that included the school library at CSUN). I haven't visited a library in quite some time. I probably ought to look and see if there's one in my area since I've moved again recently.

In the meantime, though, email sent...

Have you tried your living room?

I could have sworn I saw you point out the book at your birthday party. Try a bag in your living room, or maybe your kitchen table.

In fact, YES. Try your kitchen table, and the surrounding area. I seem to recall moving a book from one side of it to another so that a glass could be put down. And I thought you said something about it being the one you're in the middle of.

Or, I could be hallucinating.

That was "Q-Squared" which was my current "read at home during meals" book at the time. I've finished that, and am now rereading "The Copybook Tales," before I loan it out to someone else (I think Rich P. is next. You really ought to read it if you haven't yet, but you still have Fortune & Glory to read...)

Care to try again?

Q Squared was on your bed. I remember that specifically - I sat to deal with your computer, glanced over, and laughed. Loved that book.

I might be hallucinating about the kitchen. But check anyway.

Okay.

I'll look in the kitchen again, just to be sure, but I don't think it was in there. Thanks for the advice, though.

Didja find it?

Nope.

Didn't see it, nor any other book of mine, there. I think you were hallucinating again...
