Today was Bridge Battle, one of the page-turning events in AOKP. How that works is this. There's a park that has a narrow wodden bridge (two people can reasonably walk side by side). Using this bridge, we split the group in two and have various fights with our foam and duct tape weapons to see which side can defeat the other. The final battle of the day was the "Rush and Cross" melee. How that works is, each team sends out one member at a time, and as soon as the person on your side "dies," the next person runs out while the person who killed them runs towards the opposite side from which they came from. Whichever team gets a person successfully across the bridge wins.
So, Seth is on the opposite team, and I run out after my younger sibling is killed. He and I parry back and forth a little bit, then we start circling around a little bit. What I didn't realize as we were doing this, though, is that the lower rail on the bridge is a little warped, and doesn't actually prevent you from stepping off of the bridge.
So, there I am, hanging half on, half off the bridge, realizing that my right leg and right pinky have both been damaged. But, no one else who is playing realizes this. They all thought I just laid down to die, or was trying to get off the bridge without blocking a teammate. Those who were just watching, and not playing at that moment were all screaming "Help Kurt." But, that wasn't heard over the other screaming of "Get him!" or whatever other helpful hints were being yelled out to each team member that was currently fighting. I watch a few people run past me, and finally, after a minute or so, people realize that I've been in the same position for a while now, and they come and help me out. My right leg is scratched up from just above the ankle all the way to the knee. Both of my pinkies (but none of my other fingers) were somehow damaged at the tip, so both of those nails look like I stuck purple nailpolish underneath them somehow. This is my third AOKP injury from my lack of grace that is likely to leave scars (the previous two did...). It's funny, but at the same time, I feel like an idiot. Oh well.
