Writing this one from Dad's iBook (which he has decided to place on the keyboard tray of a desk), connected to AOL, so I'm probably going to make this pretty short.|
I'm here in Arizona spending time with my family until Thursday. Six hours of driving alone to get...to my parents. What the hell was I thinking? Unfortunately, it appears I have not completely conquered my panic attacks yet, as I had one on the way here. But, I was able to calm myself down after 15 minutes or so at a rest stop, and made it the rest of the way with no major issues.
As I was telling bigevil last night on the way back from cburgess's housewarming party (where a fun time was had by all, remind me to go into more details about that when I'm back on my own computer), as long as my parents and I stick to small talk, we're fine. So far, so good on that score. We talked quite a bit about the weather (spent about half an hour watching a very active thunderstorm that was probably an hour or so away from us...), had dinner, watched some television (I looked at the TV Guide, and thought I was going to be able to introduce them to Sports Night. Turns out it was actually a local sports show by that name. Next time, I'm bringing the DVDs...), and played a card game called "Screw Your Neighbor," which I'll have the opportunity to play again Tuesday night with my parents and some friends of theirs out here...
So, I'm less than a half hour from Phoenix right now. Is there anything that I ought to do while I'm out here? These should be things that either can be done with the parents (and preferably foreclude conversation while doing them...), or can be done late at night, when I'm still awake, and my parents have gone to bed...I'm open to suggestions.
