Instructions for the week... [Oct. 23rd, 2000|01:47 am]

[Current Music |XTC - "Chalkhills and Children"]

People seemed to actually do what I told them last time I gave instructions, so I shall continue to use this forum to spread the word about bands that I really love. This time, your task is to find a record store that lets you listen to music, and check out one of XTC's albums. Preferably it should be one of the following: Skylarking, Oranges and Lemons, Nonsuch, or Apple Venus Volume I. Then, after you've listened to a couple of songs, and read the lyrics, you won't be able to help yourself...Buy it.

So tired he almost forgot to put something witty here...
Yeah, almost.

"Your Dictionary" is probably my favorite off the first Apple Venus album. I keep trying to get into the second volume but nothing really stands out as being memorable. Have you heard "Homespun," which is just demo versions of all the songs from "Apple Venus?"

My boss (I think you may know him) is a huge XTC fan, so I have access to pretty much their entire catalog for store listening. Of course, my coworkers always say "you're playing XTC again?" so I have to lay off once in a while.

Hey, while I'm thinking about it, check out

Hey, while I'm thinking about it, check out <A HREF="http://www.dfan.org/honestbob/"this band</I>. You can download a couple sample MP3s (I recommend "Organism." I ordered their album, and it's easily one of my favorites.

Sigh. One of these days I'll remember to preview my comments to double-check my HTML.

XTC

Yeah, "Your Dictionary" is my favorite on Apple Venus Vol. 1 as well. Unfortunately, I'm not at a job where I get free CDs, and with no license still, I haven't had a chance to hear either Vol. 2 or Homespun.

What's really annoying is that I have a $50 gift card to Best Buy that I plan on using to buy some CD's (that's what, 3 CDs? They're way too expensive still...Damn the recording industry...), and I got it for my birthday...in August. Still haven't gotten out to Best Buy to use it...

Nah...

I think you've lost sight of your thematic focus. The first set of instructions asked people to walk away feeling better. This one compells them to spend money against their better judgement.

It just feels like you can do better than that.

Re: Nah...

Yeah, I've noticed the reaction to this one was far less positive than the last one. Thanks for keeping me on my toes, and letting me know where I'm going wrong...
