Okay. First things first. The request for challenges I gave a little while ago has gotten two actual responses (and one suggestion). Come on, people, help me out! seonsaint's challenge is what I'm going to be working on tonight after I finish writing stuff up here (I've been quite busy lately), but in the meantime, here's the original image for gbone's challenge, and the result. For space sake, I invoke the infamous LJ-cut

This was the original image, and I was requested to "make the seas a darker blue"
And here's the result:

This one wasn't all that hard. Just a couple of Hue/Saturation Layer Masks. One on the entire image, and a second one over part of the ocean along the horizon, using the Magic Wand to select the sections of ocean that were being a little stubborn to change.

Now, another entry on a completely different subject is coming up, then time to go to town on Matt's challenge to me...

Huh. I missed the challenge request entirely. My bad.

So, umm.. Yeah.

Let's give you a generic compositing workout to address everything you're not confident in.

Click here for your first image.

That's a pretty distinct lighting situation, wouldn't you say?

So's this:

They don't entirely match. But for some ungodly reason, you've been asked to place these two people in the foreground of that first image. Proportions and framing are entirely up to you.

Your challenge:
Make whatever adjustments you have to, to them and/or their new environment, as will make them not stick out like sore thumbs. They are to be a part of this scene -- two lovebirds who stopped to take a photo while Captain Mal and Jayne throw a dead body off the ship behind them.

Make that photo convincing.

Re: YAY!!!!!

Course, now I'm getting all pissed off about it not still being on air.
