I wonder if this was moving too fast... [Oct. 10th, 2000|01:10 am]

So, I'm talking with Megan tonight, as usual...And she surprises me with a virtual tickle. As promised, because I wasn't expecting it, I laughed. She said, "Good. Now, all I have to do is surprise you in real-life." I told her that wasn't as likely. Spidey-sense and all...(Have I mentioned I'm a comic-book geek?) She was like, "Uh-huh. Sure." So, being my usually flirty self, I said, "Would you believe that I keep my eye on beautiful women, and so they're less likely to surprise me?" She said, "Yeah, but what does that have to do with me?" (Or something very close to that. Didn't save the conversation.) This hit upon one of my pet peeves. It bugs me when women can't accept compliments...They can never say, "Thank you." It's always "No, not me..." I've never understood that. So, I sighed and said, "Why can't women accept compliments? Let me say this straight out. You're an incredibly beautiful woman. The Thursday before last, outside of Norm's, there was a moment where I was literally struck speechless." She asked for details on that, which I provided where I could. She said, "Thank you." I said, "You're welcome. I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable." She made a joke about some other incident, where she had to hike her dress up to get some stuff from the back of her van. I joked along with it, and then she decided to finally go to bed (she had said she was going to right before the tickle...) So, now I'm wondering, did I make her uncomfortable with the "struck speechless by your beauty" remark? Do I have any ladies reading along to tell me how I'm doing here in your book? Am I just too blunt? Do you think I'm still okay? Do I have a chance in hell of actually making to the date without shooting myself in the foot? Any advice, from either side of the camp would be greatly appreciated right about now...
