This is why I was late for work today... [May. 16th, 2002|02:36 pm]

I was at work last night, and had AIM Quick Buddy up on one of the computers, when I got a message from Rich. He says "Hey, what are your plans for tonight?" I said, "Well, Joel let me borrow a tape that I need to return tomorrow, so I was going to watch that. You have something better to tempt me with?" Turns out, he had somehow been screwed out of seeing a midnight showing of Episode II with some other friends, and wanted to go out and do something to take his mind off of that. I was almost done with my shift, but didn't particularly feel like driving a long distance to do something at that moment, so I suggested we go see Spider-Man on the IMAX screen, something technomonkey and I had discussed doing, but hadn't gotten around to. That sounded good to him, and we arranged to meet at Universal Citywalk, where it was playing. I got to Citywalk before Rich did, of course, being only four exits away from it. I walk up to the theater, and notice that Spider-Man is no longer listed in the IMAX section. I ask the guy behind the counter, "Is Spider-Man no longer playing on the IMAX screen?" He told me it wasn't, and that it had stopped playing there just a couple of days after the movie opened. So, I take a glance at what else is playing. Looking at the titles, I jokingly say, "Well, I assume the midnight showing of Episode II is all sold out." The guy behind the counter looks at me as if I grew a third eye, and says "No."

"No," he said.

I try calling Rich real quick. He's not picking up his cel phone. I think "Well, he wanted something to take his mind off of not being able to see Episode II. I think seeing Episode II will do that." So, I turn to the counter guy and say, "All right. Two for Episode II." Then I walk over to the line that's starting to form and stand there.
Rich shows 15 or 20 minutes later. I explain the change in plan. Needless to say, he's happy.

Got home around 3:30am last night. Did some last minute organization stuff for the Digital Projection showing of Episode II. That group is going tonight, and also includes Rich. We're geeks...The organizational message I sent got me in trouble with a friend for a reason that I wasn't expecting at all. I've already apologized and explained my intent for that...

So, that was my night (and morning). How was yours?
