Weekend catchup [Jul. 28th, 2002|02:46 pm]

I'm back at work today (Sunday-Thursday schedule, you know...), and thought you might be interested in what happened this weekend.

Thursday night: Hung out at Fred and Lisa's house after work. Erik, Maire and Bobby also showed up. We hung out and had some pork chops, and played a couple of games, like Gother Than Thou and Munchkin. Erik and I firmed up my plans for my Birthday Party next weekend, which is good, since it's coming up soon. Got home, and found that Amy had called me and left a message on the machine. Far too late to call her at that point.

Friday: Pork chops did not seem to agree with me. I was up until 4am the previous night, feeling really bloated. Woke up around 1pm, still really tired, but a little better in my stomach. Called Amy back, left a message on her voice mail. Went to the comic book store with Maire, then drove to the Orange County Fair. We hung out there for a few hours, then went and saw Weird Al in concert. That was really cool, and will get a separate post in a little bit. Unfortunately, my stomach bothering me came back up (almost literally, right after the concert I thought I was going to throw up, although I didn't, and once I belched that sensation went away). So, I drove home and took some Pepto Bismol. Felt much better not long after that...

Saturday morning/afternoon: Called Amy again. Another voice mail message. She called me back about an hour later. Yay! Turns out she's going to be down in Ontario for her cousin's baptism, and after that's done, she'll show up for the tail end of my birthday party. (anyone know how long a Mormon baptism takes? We know Catholic baptisms are fairly short, especially compared to Baptist baptisms...) We also tenatively arranged for me to drive up to spend the weekend with her August 16, 17 and 18th. (Drive up Friday afternoon/evening, spend Saturday and most of Sunday there, drive back Sunday late afternoon/evening...) Whether or not that actually happens depends on a field exercise that is happening sometime in August. If the exercise is happening that weekend, or too close to it, then we'll have to figure out another weekend for me to join her up there.

Saturday evening: Short story. If you're not in AOKP, than you may not quite understand, but this is like a LARP adventure (If you don't know what a LARP is, then you really have no hope of understanding this portion...). My character was a guard who was deep in gambling debt, and was doing somewhat shady work on the side to earn some extra money. Unlike most short stories that we do in AOKP, this one was a little more freeform, with only one person knowing the full "script" and what was supposed/most likely to happen. (Normally, one or two or three people are going on the story, and the rest of the people have access to the full script so they know how everything pieces together.) Because of the freeform nature of it, things got a little confusing, especially near the end. But, John (the guy who wrote it) seemed to be happy with how it turned out, so that's good. The next part of that story will take place August 10th. I'm hoping to play a different character for that one. I was still really tired from the weekend, but I was talked into going to Denny's with people anyway after the short story.

Sunday: Woke up. Tired...Really tired...But fufilled.
