Gimme a Beat!

Ow! Ow! Ow! I said a beat, not a beating...

As you might be able to tell, this entry has to do with music. Specifically, I want to make a mix CD for Amy. She made a really cool one for me, and I would like to return the favor.

Her CD included songs that were, in one way or another, related to bands or subjects that we've discussed, or relate to us in some other way. For instance, one of the songs on her CD is "Ten Years Later" by Collective Soul. Another song on there is a cover of "Take on Me," since we had discussed a-ha in one of our phone conversations. The CD is filled out with various silly songs, which Amy has mentioned on more than one occasion having a fondness for.

I know I want to include at least one Matthew Sweet song. I also want to open the CD with "Blister in the Sun" by Violent Femmes (it's used heavily in Gross Pointe Blank), and somewhere in there I want to have "Silo Lullaby" by Toad the Wet Sprocket (it's a song from the point of view of the person in the missle silo who has the responsibility of pushing the button, if necessary, which is what her roommate is currently training to do...)

I know that none of you know Amy as well as I do so far, but I'd love to hear some ideas from you, based on what you do know...
